DACOR® To Equip AK Steel Concept Home With Kitchen Appliances
Antimicrobial-Coated Appliances Ensure Cleaner Kitchens

MIDDLETOWN, OH August 27, 2003 -— AK Steel announced today that DACOR®, a leader in high-end kitchen appliance design, manufacturing and distribution, is donating kitchen appliances equipped with AgIONÔ antimicrobial-coated stainless steel for use in the 11,000 square-foot AK Steel Concept Home. This donation includes 30" and 24" Epicure™ dishwashers, two Epicure ranges, and a 52" outdoor grill. Dacor also is supplying a standard 30" Millennia™ range and microwave for the guesthouse. The AK Steel Concept Home, located in Simi Valley, California, is a project demonstrating the benefits of antimicrobial-coated products, and steel construction.

By showcasing AK Coatings' AgION antimicrobial-coated steel, DACOR's appliances will support the AK Steel Concept Home's goal of providing a clean, low-maintenance residence. Studies show that, in the typical home, the majority of microbes live in the kitchen—even more so than in the bathroom. This fact underlines the importance of the antimicrobial-coated DACOR kitchen appliances.

DACOR's donation of the appliances continues the company's tradition of industry firsts. DACOR also was the first to introduce the industry-wide 30" dishwasher, the first outdoor grill with built in halogen lights, and patent features including an infrared gas broiler inside an electric oven, a Pure Convection™ system for even heat distribution, and a Butterfly Bake Element™ for an extraordinary traditional bake.
