Stainless Steel Isolated Pressure Sensors Offer Low Cost Measurement Solution for Hostile Media

July 30, 2004 -- American Sensor Technologies, Inc offers the AST 4000 family of stainless steel all media isolated pressure sensors for high accuracy measurement of hostile media, such as corrosive liquids and gases. Offering long-term stability and extended life, these cost-effective strain gauge pressure sensors are designed for industrial OEM equipment, hydraulic controls, data loggers, energy and water management and pressure instrumentation. AST 4000 family pressure sensors provide either millivolt or amplified outputs and offer a wide range of options for OEMs, system integrators and end-users.

While all pressure sensors within the AST Series offer high performance and reliability in high-pressure applications, specific models were built to address unique application requirements:

Offered with a variety of connections for flexibility in mechanical and electrical interfaces, the Model AST4000 sensor provides high accuracy measurement in industrial, refrigeration, hydraulics and other OEM applications. Units are available with outputs of 10mV/V, 0.5-4.5 V ratiometric, 1-5V, 1-6V, .25-5V, or 4-20mA

The AST4100 Model is a low-cost, OEM pressure transducer for use in confined spaces. Units are suitable for water and tank pressure management, industrial and hydraulic controls as well as automotive diagnostic tools. The AST4100 is available with outputs of 10mV/V, 0.5-4.5 V ratiometric, 1-5V, 1-6V, .25-5V, or 4-20mA.

Ideal for panel builders, the Model AST4200 is an OEM panel-mount pressure sensor for use in critical applications where media entry into electrical compartments is not allowed. Units feature a unique one-piece bulkhead design that keeps hazardous media out of the control box while eliminating the use of adapters. Units offer outputs of 10mV/V, 4-20 mA or 1-5V.

All AST Series pressure sensors are constructed of 17-4 PH or 316 L stainless steel, which provides long life and resistance to media corrosion as well as superb over range and burst protection. The high strength stainless steel construction contains no silicone oil, no welds, and no internal "O" rings, offering a full hermetic seal against the media. In addition to utilizing strain gauge technology, the Company combines exotic metals such as titanium and nickel alloys with its own-patented Krystal Bond Technology to produce strain gauge sensors that yield a high output with low thermal errors.

The AST 4000 family of pressure sensors provide gauge, sealed gauge or compound gauge pressure measurement in ranges up to 10,000 PSI. Sensors are calibrated and temperature compensated to ensure stability over specified ranges. Exhibiting excellent resistance to high vibration, shock and temperature extremes, units are able to perform in a variety of demanding environments.
